Describe
the last school week you spent together with your teachers and mates. Refer to
what you and the others felt and thought then.
1)Last week was a common one.
After two days of relaxing, we came back from school, eager to learn and having
the will to know more and more good things. The other days, we didn't pay
attention , but we tryed to be as attentive as we could at what the teachers
told us. Usually, in the brakes it was a disaster , noisy, in the classroom and
also in the school. As the school semester was ending rapidly, we settled
together with the main teachers when the theses will be. At some subjects, we
were evaluated and the teachers found out what we had studied until now and we
were rewarded plentyfully with marks. And so passed the other days of the week
, arriving at the most beloved one: Friday, when we have a two-days break. And
all starts all over again.
Do you like traveling ? Speak about a special place you have already been to or about one you would like to go to.
2) In the summer holiday I was together with my family in Egypt to visit the pyramids and to see the lifestyle of the people who live there. In that free week that we had, we had time to visit the cities, to walk, to make pictures. When we came back in the country, we were invited by some friends in the mountains, so the trip took longer. As we arrived there, we discovered a settlement a little bigger than a village , all together near a cathedral, as beautiful and old as The Chartre, but less famous. The few people that we met there were modest, clean and proud. They stayed in my mind as some hard-working people having at their windows flowers. Together with the youth from that village we organised a party on a river side , near a fall. We made a huge fire, and we set all together near. Being tired, we went in our tents and so ended one of our many nights spent together with the new group of friends. With very fast steps the day of departure was coming, even if we wanted that this would never happen. We said goodbye and promised we will write each-other every week and will keep in touch until the next visit, that we hope it will be soon. When we arrived at home, we looked at the pictures and we entered again in that marvelous land.
People who practice sports and have active occupations are healthier. What else should we do to keep healthy and fit?
3)It is said that sport is the way in which your body can be kept healthy and full of life. Making sport not only puts your muscles in movement, but also releases yourself from a big quantity of stress. It is good at least once a day to have time to do sport. It's not neccessary to go to a gym, you can just go for a ride with your bike or jogging. In this way you can make two things at the same time and that is to combine useful things with pleasure.
It's not a shame to go to a gym and have a few extra kilos. All can be solved through will and of course sport. Another efficient method is a diet that must be respected. At the first sight you say "It's too much to handle", but I can say "No" to you. How? Proper food is the key word. What does this mean? The meal hours must be respected and the food must consist of vegetables and fruits because these are rich in vitamins. In conclusion, if you want to be healthy, you have to eat properly and none of the less make a little sport.
Imagine what life was like a century ago. Would you rather have lived then? Give at least three reasons for your choice.
4)How would it be if I would have lived one century ago? Hmm. Now it seems a very weird ideea, but if I reflect a little and think twice it doesn't seem a bad ideea. I wonder what I would have been? Yes, I know. For sure I would have been a banker, honest and respected by everyone. Many times I have the sensation that in a past life my soul appeared under this aspect. It sounds strange, but this is the pure truth.
Maybe it sounds like nothing, but it isn't I am the man who likes to make money and I know very well how to make it and, what is very important, I know how to spend it. Nowadays I think my destiny is far away from what I could have done one century ago but this has no importance as long as I know how to arrange my life so that everything goes perfect, just like one century ago.
Speak about an object, a family legend, a recipe - or something else - which has been in your family for generations. Tell its story and say what it means to you.
5)Old stuff always attracted me. One year ago I discovered something amazing. The talisman under the shape of a cat eye, inherited by my mum from my grandmother had something strange that attracted me from the first time I saw it. Why it attracted me? I can't explain that but I felt like every tiny part of my body was full of heat. Even I was conquered by heat. Then I thought it is a simple coincidence but the curiosity to discover if it is a magic talisman made me hold it once again in my hand. Fantastic! The experience was repeating. And from then, every time when I'm covered in pessimism, I take the talisman and hold it in my hand and the feeling goes away. From what my mum told me, I understood that the talisman was found at a crossroad where, with very long time ago, the women with supernatural powers were burn, being declared as witches. There is the possibility that this talisman should have belonged to one of the witches. Now I wonder and ask myself: "How is possible that this talisman was not burned?" Should it be a captive force inside the talisman? My skin shivers only when I think of this. And, it's mine.
Describe the humorous or the tragic character in a book or film. Give reasons for your choice.
Robinson Crusoe, by Daniel Defoe
6) It is the starting point of the modern novel. With it, the bourgeois comes into literature. It is a novel of adventures . Books about voyages and new discoveries were very popular in the 18th century. A story that appeared in a magazine was about Alexander Selkirk a Scotch sailor who had quarreled with his capitain and insisted on going ashore. He lived on a desert island for 4 years. Crusoe is the type of an enterprising man who by a steady work succeeds in surpassing the hardships of life. Thus the novel is a praise to human labor and the triumph of man over nature. Work and fortitude help Robinson to endure hardship - they save him from dispair.
The charm of the novel lies in Robinson as a person. His characteristic trait is his optimism. His guiding principle while living on the island became "never say die". He had confidence in himself and believed that it was within his power to overcome all difficulties. Friday is the other character of the book. He is intelligent, brave, generous and skilful. He is described as an able, pleasant human being at a time when colored people were treated very badly. The novel praises the practicalness and energy; yet when concentrated in an individual man these qualities are exaggerated.
According to Defoe it follows that man can live by himself comfortably and make all the things with no other human. He pointed out the fact that human character is moulded by the circumstances in life that he is subjected to. Defoe is less preoccupied by the adventures of his hero, which became simple settings for bringing the character and the destiny of the hero into high relief. When reading the minute description of Crusoe's life and work, one feels that the person who wrote the book must have lived through all the adventures himself. It demonstrates that Defoe was a great master of realistic details.
Talk about a wonderful trip you and your class once took together, which greatly helped you get to know one another better.
7) It was
rainy September. End of the week. Bad weather. I had my bench near the window
so I could see that the sun was rarely shinning through the big, dark clouds
that loved the sun and embraced him. It was a tipically September day, the
leaves were starting to cover the grass and nobody was happy. The bacovian
atmosphere was entering in our souls. The bell rang and every student took his
place inside. The lady with big, clear and beautiful blue eyes told us that
there was a trip programmed for Saturaday and Sunday and that everyone who
wanted to join should raise their hands. I was so bored about everything that
this ideea seemed for me a way of escaping, of clearing all the bad feelings
caused by the weather and by the stress of a whole week. I accepted. Saturday
came and in the bus all seemed like a useless trip. Everybody from the market
watched at us as we were going north,( who knows where, as I haven't paid
attention to hear the name of the site we were visiting). The trees and
everything were running away from me, back to the city, as if there was a way
of no return. After that I found out that it was just a weekend spent in the
mountains, at a cottage, near a lake, in the peaceful area of

Theoretically, childhood remains one of the most wonderful periods in man's life. Speak about your childhood and compare it with your adolescence.
11) Childhood. The most wonderful period of life. All seems worriless, and everything is shinning. As small children grow, they forget on how to smile, on how to enjoy life. You are surrounded by love and the only thing you miss is the nice and great weather outside. Then you begin to explore everything, strange, unknown things attract you, and the most common question is "Why this?" and "Why that?". My childhood wasn't different than others. I had very good parents that inspired me the sense for good and proper behaviuor. I was the most talkative being in the house. Everything was new to me and I was already known to everyone. They all loved me.
Now, when I am already a grown up, things and my mentality changed. School has changed it. Now I know that there are good and bad people, that you must fight for what is yours and give a helping hand when you can. School has helped us change our ways of being, our mentality and our evolution in life. Now we regard life like a serious thing, and we fully agree that we must fight for it, for the best of our family and our friends!
Who, in your opinion, can be considered one of the most representative personalities of the 20-th century? Explain why.
12) One of the most important personalities in the 20-th century is for sure Albert Einstein, the most clever man of all times. No man nor woman has achieved yet what he has done for the humanity. A clever mind in a century of discoveries. The world and the humanity has achieved in this century more than it has in all others. And mainly I believe that it was Albert Einstein's part. The theory of relativity inspired the most clever minds of that time. Everyone found in Einstein an example, a great example, and not only in physics, but also in mathematics and related sciences. Being an inspiration model, it has helped generations and generations in motivating, encouraging and supporting even after death, through his death, the development of sciences.
Speak about the importance of free time in man's life and suggest some of the best ways of spending it. You may give yourself as example.
13) What is more pleasant than going to the disco, having a walk in the park and watching TV. These are the most common free time actions every human does. Free time is necessary for everyone. You rest, enjoy, and think about what to do the next day. Your mind is (or should be) cleared of all things and troubles, and you can easily relax. It is the satisfaction of a man that comes from work and lays down and rests. Everyone has its favorite free time activities. Mine is computers. Others have fishing, football, walking, jogging, shopping (especially for women) and many others. I like computers because it's like an huge, extra world in which you can be anything you want to be.
And not even that. It is becoming to be a very important friend, if I may say so , of the people. The free time is essential for everyone and imagine how it would be a life with only working and no spare-time.
14 Speak about a famous cinema or theatre actor or actress, either Romanian or foreign, you like best. Give reasons four choice.
Because I like to see , even now , " The mask of Zoro " , I will speak about Antonio Banderas .
He has a strong personality and strong desires . That 's why he was chosen in that commercial for "Diablo" perfume .

Many people consider that television - certain programmes, anyway
- influences people, teenagers especially, in a negative way. What do you
think? Support your opinions with arguments.
15) Almost all the houses in the world have one thing in common: TV. Television
makes its way in everyone's home. Everywhere it is the symbol of communication
and connections between people all over the world. Many programs on TV have an
educational purpose and are intended to everyone looking to enlarge it's volume
of knowledge. But movies and not only can have also a bad influence on people.
Racism , criminality, drugs, stupid behaviour can affect and disturb the
personality of teenagers. It is a difficult period in everyone's life, the
period when we are curious about all and we cannot judge what is good and what
is wrong. That is why there must be a proper education and relationships
between parents and children. TV is good and bad.it all depends on how you look
at it.
A friend in need is a friend indeed. Comment upon the proverb by referring to a literary text or to your own life experience.
16) All their life people need friends. This is because the human being is designed to live in communities and not to live lonely (even if there are some cases). We make friends by sharing the same thoughts, the same ideas and having the same activities. It is a special connection between two people of the same sex or different sex. It is special because true friends are forever and you could not forget those ones. There are also friends that you forget as time goes by. A true friend lies near you when you need him most, when you are sad or when you are happy. It is the feeling that you have someone there, it doesn't matter how far it is, only that it is and that is thinking at you! It is a shoulder on which you can always rely on and you know that it will never let you down.
Christmas and Easter are the most important and wonderful holidays in the Christian calendar. Haw did you spend last Christmas / Easter? If you belong to a different religion, speak about the most important holiday in your religious calendar.
17)Christmas and Easter are the two most important holidays in the whole year! This is because it represents the birth and death of Jesus Christ. The holiday I prefer it's Christmas and this is because it is my favourite time of the year, when everyone has light in his heart and the family and the friends that we love are with us. It is a special time when we are all united and when we forgive each other's mistakes and look forward in the future. It is the time of the year when the snow outside it is melted by the power of our hearts , all beating in the same manner. I spent my Christmas in family and I think that everyone in the whole world did the same. We feel also sorry about people that need help and at the end of the year we try to do our best in helping them. If only we would do this all the year long! I love Christmas a lot and I think that everyone does!
Make the portrait of your best friend, as objectively as you can, and think if the others see him/ her in the same way you do.
18) My best friend is Cornel. He is 1, 73 tall and has short hair. I see him as the one I can relly on when I need someone. He is always there for me and I appreciate that. And of course, I try to do the same. We are in the same class at school and perhaps this is why we are so close. We go out in town together, we play sports and have fun. I don't know how others see him, but I definitely like him. When we were small, we tried to buy the same clothes and look like brothers. Now we have the same occupations and we think positive about many aspects of our lives.
I hope we will be friends as time passes, and we both will go to
university in
Imagine you have won the national lottery and now you possess a large sum of money. What are you going to do with it first and foremost ?
19)The
national lottery! What a nice dream. It has become real. I am now the winner of
10 million dollars. It is very hard for me to find the best solution to spend
this money. First of all, I will buy myself a brand new super computer, a brand
new supercar, but not Lamborghini, because it is too cheap. I prefer Maybach,
it has much more class. Next on my wish is a top notch mansion in
Doctors and nutritionists keep warning about the negative influence of junk food on health, especially on the young ones' health. Then , how can you explain that fast-food restaurants are always crowded
20)Fast-food is a perfect way to eat, especially if you are in a lack of time , because of your job or just in a hurry. Kids love it because you can find everything there, from playgrounds to old time friends. The food there is not so healthy and nutritionists are right about it. Junk food does not contain enough proteins and vitamins necessary for our body, especially for young people , that must grow. The fast-foods nowadays are very crowded because everyone is busy, they just bite and they go, people everywhere in the world are busy! Time is money and the owners of fast-foods know this, and they exploit it at maximum. I personally love fast- foods.
Most people consider that top models or football players make money too easily compared to the work they do. What do you think? Give reasons to support your opinions.
21)

Speak about the role and the importance of the press in a democratic country. Which of the media has the greatest impact on public opinion and why? Give arguments.
22) The
press is in the centre of the democratic country. It is major point in it. It
is the balance that keeps all the things going right and should be always
neutral, but in
The omnipresence of advertisements and commercials has turned our life into a nightmare! Most of them are stupid and sell nothing but lies! What do you think about that?
23)The soul of the commerce and economy is advertisements. The industry of commercials brings annually billions of dollars. If you have a factory, the best way in which everyone should know about your products is advertising. And for sure , your product will be sold, if it is good or not. It is a giant industry and will expand further more in the future, because people are beginning to like commercials and everywhere we see them. We are now used to them , and their lack will be impossible for us. The commercials help the industry, indirectly, by providing a let's say fight between the companies, which try to sell their products. Publicity is great, but I don't like it when it interferes in my favorite movie at TV !
Look back at the twentieth century and think what it was like. Choose three major things which, in your opinion, were crucial for the future of mankind.
24)The twentieth century was the most important in the development of the human kind! All the great discoveries happened in this century. Science had known a great success, and a lot of things appeared: TV, cars, computers, arts, flying on Moon, electronics, all the industries developed amazingly fast, and this owing to the science. The major things that were crucial for the mankind were the TV, the cars and the computers, because I cannot imagine life without them. They are essential in everyone's life. I can say that human kind is addicted to them.
Despite the increasing number of new films, quite paradoxically, fewer and fewer people go to the cinema nowadays. How can you explain that?
25) In the
old times, movies were only watched in cinemas, because not all the people had
TV,DVD,computers and Internet. Nowadays, people prefer to download movies from
the internet because it is cheaper and they like to sit in their living room
and watch on the computer. Dvd's are well spread in the world because of the
quality of the movies stored on this format. In
What is your opinion about supermarkets compared with markets or shops? Where would you rather go shopping? Give arguments.
26) I love Carrefour . It is the place where you find everything you like, I mean everything, from a needle to an elephant. Everything is cheap, you don't have to go to several shops to buy what you need. It is only one place, one name, one roof and under it you find everything . It is great. Shops do not provide all the things you need, just the minimum that is necessary. I personally prefer to spend much more money on supermarkets and few money on all kinds of stores. I spare time and nerves. I don't get stressed a lot, and I am very happy. Especially on holidays, when you find cut-offs and special promotions. It is the joy of buying things, of making the one near you happy . I love supermarkets.
Describe a person or personality you admire the most and explain why. Has she /he ever influenced you in any way?
27) In all our life we meet persons which differ a lot from us. We can see this in their personality and realize that they have been in a different world than us and they see life differently, either nice or in a bad shape. We must take from them what is best and try to change their bad side. I admire my English teacher because I always liked to see how others try to do their best in all they do and try to give others a helping hand in the creation of the man that everyone wants us to become. It is very nice to meet such people.
28 Characterize the beginning of this century. Think of the great hopes mankind had three years ago and say what has happened to these hopes.
In the beginning of twenty first century , the change of prefix for computers in internet was challenging . Those viruses could brake all system in so many different ways .
Cloning mammals was a big controversial achievement . The sheep Doly seems to be the star in this field . More useful is to clone organs . One single cell of one organ can be multiplied , it can grow and begin that organ man need . This organ can be rejected by his own body .
The greatest hope is eradication of terrorism .
Not in the last , we hope to preserve the nature , to prevent cataclysmic events , fight and win with diseases (specially with HIV)
This century begin with more temptations. In supermarket you feel good when you touch what you want and can read about the product but we feel bad when we see lots of things and we can't buy.
Enlarge on the following statement: Pop singers, sportsmen and film stars must be inspiring for the young. Give arguments and examples to support your views on that.
29) T.V. makes the superstar. It is true and we all know it. We listen to music and our idols are the stars. We made them become superstars. We like their image, the way they are dressing and everything. They are inspiring for us because we imagine us in their places and everyone liked to be just like them. Fancy sport cars, jewels, hair models, expensive trips and all of that give the image of a perfect man or woman to whom all aspire. Some have a good influence, some have a bad one. You can choose your one. For example, I like a lot Jessica Alba is for me the ideal of a female film star. I like the way she plays in the movies, and I think that she will win an Oscar.
You have just been elected mayor. Speak about the first three things you are going to do as soon as possible. Also explain how you will be able to do that.
30) First of all, I would thank to all the people who had voted me. The first thing would be to organize all the stuff on priorities. It is an excellent method to deal in a crisis situation, like the one our town is experiencing. By using a complete new idea about management and implementing a new relationship with the ones that you have under your order, the employees, you can assure yourself a good beginning. It is a challenge and not all the persons elected can rise to the top. A good start would be to start projects with foreign funds, that would give a point of development in improving the quality of life. The main things would be to make the town more beautiful , finding a modality to give the people jobs and showing the people of this town that I do care about their happiness. So, elect me as a mayor!
